V6 CSC Headers

When it came time to replace the exhaust system on the Verde, I read an article on the CSC header system that convinced me that it was the way to go. Furthermore, the place to get them was EB Spares in jolly old England. I can't emphasize enough what a pleasure it was to do business with these chaps. The order was painless and the new exhaust was at my door in a matter of days.

Installation, on the other hand, was not painless. As it turns out with most any header for any car, it just quite didn't fit. Two of the holes where the header mates to the heads required enlargement. This took about 30 minutes with a rat-tail file. Also, you'll need to replace the standard manifold bolts with studs. No big deal, just takes a little time. Once the studs where installed and the offending holes were dealt with, the trick was getting the nuts on. Not much room to work with the brake master cylinder right where the wrench needs to go. Lastly, the downpipes to manifolds has no gasket, you'll need to use exhaust system cement.

Lastly, for those who need to worry about smog requirements (count me in that group), the system comes with zero provisions for catalytic converters. If you want them, you need your sawzall and welder. Or in my case, a damn good muffler guy who can do it while I watch. Yes, the car did pass the California smog test.

Enough with the banter, a picture is worth blah blah blah...

You gotta love it. Yes, it comes with the O2 sensor fitting. Yes, my engine leaks oil.

What? Yours doesn't?...

Note the location of the catalytic converters. They were a perfect fit for the system.
In addition, I removed the rear muffler. Can't say I miss it, the Alfa's engine note is soooo sweeeeeet without it. Capping it off with the Monza tip was the cherry on top. I've been known to just sit in the car and rev the engine...

More power? Well, I haven't personally ran the car on the dyno, but Alfa Centro has. The seat of my pants says the car is happier, that's for sure. Check out the Alfa Centro link for a more detailed review of this system. I hope this helps some of you decide whether or not to go with this system on your cars. I'm glad I did.
